PostSubject: How I write my own songs   Mon Sep 01, 2014 6:30 pm

I've made a short online-book how I write music on figment, here's the link Writing Music  study

I'm not a proffessional songwriter and this is just how I write music.

This is a segment/chapter from the book.
(The book is 10 chapters at the moment).

SONGWRITING

To simplify, songwriting is mostly divided into 3 parts Composition, Lyrics & Harmony.

1. Composition

Melodi (the platform for the song), Feeling (the feeling of the platform), Texture (the color of the feeling(s) ), Meaning (the meaing of the colors), layout (the layout of the meaning of the song).

2. Lyrics

Melodi (how you sing the song), Feeling (the feeling of the song), Texture (how you sing different passages in the song), Meaning (the meaning of the passages and the meaning of the song), Story/Layout (how you begin the song, how you enter different passages, how you finally come to end the song)

For example:

Verse 1: (he)Don't be afraid...

Verse 2: (he)I'll stand by you...

Bridge : (he)lets go and...

Chorus : (he)Spread love all over the world...

Verse 3: (she) I'm not afraid no more...

Bridge: (she) I will go with you and...

Chorus: (He/She) Spread Love all over the world...

Change/(what if): (She) If I'd never met you...

1x Chorus then 2x Peak Chorus: Almost the same but puzzling some parts to make it stand out Nicely.

END (He/She) 4x []: We will Spread Love and light all over the World (and):[]

I'll leave the rest to your imagination

3. Harmony

To fuse the Composition & Lyrics and get them to work thogether. Everything should have a strong bond. For example the Story should be in Harmony with the layout of the song. The meaning of the Lyrics should also reflect the meaning of the sound at that point in the song and so on.
