Nerdy about art

Hiya all,

I'm a math/philosophy/music theory nerd who's only now beginning to appreciate an tiny fraction of the infinite beauty of the cosmos. I started off listening to classical music and playing piano; then I discovered Jean Michel Jarre, and basically now I love everything from Skrillex to Schoenberg to Septic Flesh. Recently I've begun opening up to other forms of art: educating myself in classic films, literature, and poetry. Right now I'm obsessed with aesthetic and dark, grungy, brooding atmospheres. I mean, I like other aspects of art, but man. There isn't any work of art a great aesthetic can't redeem for me... I even liked Sucker Punch, haha!

Oh, and yeah! I compose and produce. Here's my youtube, and my soundcloud. Haven't uploaded anything in ages, but that's because most of my compositions are either not recorded yet or not entirely finished. Stylistically, I'm very eclectic: I try everything from from space/ambient music to noise to pop to atonal to jazz to a very ill-fated attempt at a pseudo-Bach invention. I try to keep most of my pieces very different from the rest of my material, just so I cover the widest possible range of styles. Art is such a gigantic thing and I want to try to explore as much of it as possible.

What am I here for and what do I want to do? Well, I'm here because I love the attitude exhibited by Dave's fans - the positivity and the constant, euphoric, almost orgiastic celebration of beauty and awesomeness. And what do I want to do with art? Everything! Less generally, I'm interested in getting into film soundtracking eventually; and meanwhile, I want to really start collaborating with other artists on here. A lot. I've been too busy to engage in much of that lately, but now my schedule's a little more open and I really want to join others in singing a paean to life, the universe, and everything!

Welcome to the forums! Glad to have you on board. :3 Everyone here so far is really encouraging and I'm sure anyone would love to collaborate with you. Just make a post in the forums on what you'd like to work on and you'll find a lot of artists joining in. ^~^

Hiya ViridianHue, nice meeting you! Yeah, I'm totally looking forward to collaborations on here. I love how it's not just musicians here - that really opens up possibilities for collaboration, doesn't it?

Speaking of which, brandio, that collaborating thing we were making. I dunno if you'd totally forgotten about it - I certainly did in the craziness that was studying for and taking grade 12 diploma exams - but I'm willing to give it another go if you are. Sorry 'bout all the starts and stops.

And great to see you here as well, Neq! Maybe sometime soon we could collaborate - I know I'd learn loads from the process. (Have you heard from Mnillinm, Rmonik, and Runemopar, by the way? It'd be great to have them join as well!)

Mnilinm is Mod here as well and is involved in the developement of the real deal. So he is around...
Haven't seen Runy or Rmo around though. Haven't heard of them at all to be honest

And yeah. Collaboration is something i would love, but i pretty much suck at it... I'm slow as hell and can't always be creative.

Yeah ok we can continue i guess... maybe restart idkk........ I talk 2 Rmonik and Rune sometimes on fb, well maybe I see their post and dont talk to them. I asked rune if he coul listen 2 a song I was workin on and he replied and thought it was cool but he also thought I should get rid of some of the layers in the into. IDK if either would be interested in joinin this forum I kinda doubt it but IDK at all rlly
