Hey all, the main form of gaming I'm into is Rythm games. I play mostly online at flashflashrevolution.com but I also enjoy games like dance dance revolution, in the groove, ReRave and many more. I'll likely make threads focused on some of these if there are others that also play these games. When I first came across Dave's music I asked him if he would allow us permission to step it for flash flash revolution and he said yes. There are currently four songs in game of Dave's if I'm remembering correctly.
Here's a few videos so you guys can see what I'm talking about
This is my youtube channel but I'll likely be making a new one for creative content. This has a lot of videos of my children and such on it and probably isn't what I'd want to use for future projects.

Hi guys!
I'm also into Rhythm gaming. I used to play O2Jam online and now, occasionally, O2Mania. I believe I can still play Pump It Up, DDR, DMX, Guitar Freaks, and Drum Mania but I'd probably pant like a silly dog afterwards.
I'm considering uploading a video of a good play of my favorite songs in O2.
Any chance you can share links/instructions on making charts? in O2Mania?

I've actually never made charts for 02Mania but we could definitely look around and see what we can find.

Unfortunately, I've never delved into making charts on O2M... from what I've heard, it's not a conventional process. If I remember correctly, most O2Mania charts are keysounded. As such, the process of creating a complete chart in O2Mania not only revolves around making charts in an editor, but typically also revolves around you assigning particular notes in a chart to individual sounds/sound effects.
Games like BMS/IIDX/Pop'n/GH have this same concept of triggering a specific sound when hitting a note in the chart.
Sorry that I can't be of more help!

Yow! Here's a video I just recorded xD Apologies for the extra notes, was really just playing around.
There are a few tutorials online but it was hard to understand, guess I'll have to try harder. when I have the time to do so.

I simply don't understand how people can play 7K, ugh.
I can't get the right balance because of having an uneven amount of keys on one hand compared to the other. 4/3 doesn't work for me...

I use either of my thumbs for the spacebar, whichever feels more natural. It becomes instinctive. So... still practically symmetrical.

Heh, I never thought of setting both thumbs on the spacebar for comfort. That's an interesting point -- additionally, since the 4th column is gold, it would be easy to standout...
...I might try that for 7-key play. I can't believe I never thought of that.

Omg, thank you for agreeing, you're so polite :3 And another thing, I really enjoy this setup because most charts have the bass notes on the spacebar so.. yeah.. bass thumbs be rocking out. haha

Hey Nev -- for you! It's on StepMania, and it's 6 keys instead of 4. That miss was so stupid -_________-

Games like this one and FFR the colors are like this
Red - quarter notes Blue - 8th notes Yellow - 16th notes Orange - 32nd notes
So on. I can't remember all of them off the top of my head right now but AJ does I'm sure lol

The colors are rhythmic notation.
red - these are quarter notes at the song's tempo (1 note per beat) blue - these are eighth notes at the song's tempo (2 notes per beat) purple - these are eighth note triplets at the song's tempo (3 notes per beat) yellow - these are sixteenth notes at the song's tempo (4 notes per beat) pink/light purple - these are sixteenth note triplets at the song's tempo (6 notes per beat) orange - these are thirty-second notes at the song's tempo (8 notes per beat) cyan - these are thirty-second note triplet at the song's tempo (12 notes per beat)
green - there is a bit of a discrepancy on this color; in StepMania, this is any note that does not snap to any of the above colors -- however, on FlashFlashRevolution/ThirdStyle, green is 64th notes (16 notes per beat) and: white - anything that does not snap to the above colors.
It is also worth noting that some rhythms (namely tuplets) cannot be accented with clear notation (for obvious reasons by definition).
Some charts utilize green/white notes to accent certain sounds so that they stand out visually. If you look back at the second post in this thread where I posted a video of Dave's Into Your Eyes (BIAB remix), you'll see that there are occasional barrages of white notes to accommodate for a lot of the SFX, and additionally, they also accommodate for the second repeat of the vocals (for whatever reason, I'm not sure why I did that anyway).
